Please do not over-treat celiac disease

I often encounter younger patients with cervical erosion in my outpatient clinics and online consultations: they have not had children or have a request to have children again, they have been seen in some hospitals, they have a colposcopy report showing cervical erosion, and the doctor at the time advised her to have a LEEP procedure to repair the erosion, they must be cured or they will get cervical cancer later, but often the important TCT of the cervix is not done. The reality is that some people are afraid to follow the doctor’s advice to perform surgical treatment, once a young patient in front of me boasts: in a private hospital to perform painless abortion plus cervical erosion treatment, costing more than 20,000 yuan, I was speechless, VIP treatment, money can only be so capricious (perhaps the man is not short of money); part of the smart patients to the big hospital or in to consult. Simple cervical erosion is currently considered to be cervical columnar epithelial ectopic, physiological and requires no special treatment. 8-9 out of 10 female patients have cervical erosion. Young patients can have an annual cervical TCT to rule out precancerous conditions and detect HPV if necessary (there is a correlation between high-risk types and cervical cancer). For patients with cervical erosion with increased vaginal discharge that is purulent, chronic cervicitis may be present. If there is no specific pathogen infection and no abnormality is seen on TCT, symptomatic treatment with intravaginal plugs (drugs do not significantly improve the erosion surface unless they are caustic) can be given, and if there is specific pathogen infection treated accordingly. The principle of physiotherapy is actually to make the columnar epithelium necrotic and shed, and the squamous epithelium grows out to form a smooth surface. However, for patients who do not have children or who have to give birth vaginally again, physiotherapy is associated with narrowing of the cervical canal, scarring of the cervix, infection, etc., which may pose a risk to future conception and delivery. I hope that after reading this scientific article, more young cervical erosion patients don’t just think about curing it, but maybe it is physiological without over-treatment (cervical TCT or cervical smear is mandatory every year).
