Can Ornidazole treat UTIs?

Ornidazole is an anti-anaerobic drug that can be used to treat UTIs if they are considered to have an anaerobic bacterial infection. Ornidazole is very effective against Bacteroides fragilis, Clostridium perfringens, and Helicobacter pylori. Ornidazole, if used to treat UTIs, can be considered for 3-5 days in a row, with urinary routine rechecked a week after symptoms have improved. However, usually urinary tract infections are rarely caused by simple anaerobic infections, so when using Ornidazole, other drugs for aerobic infections, such as penicillins or cephalosporins, may also be used in combination. Patients with UTIs should also be careful to drink more water and urinate more often. In addition, if gynecological infections or other genitourinary infections are considered, they should also be treated at the same time to avoid cross-infection.
