Scars formed after stitches on the face, i.e. keloid scars, can be treated with general care, topical medication or laser repair depending on whether the patient is a keloid and the severity of the scar. 1. General care: If the patient’s scar is a newborn scar, small in size, not obviously protruding from the surface, and not yet fully defined, you can apply moisturizers, moisturize the skin, and appropriate local massage to promote the skin stretching, in addition to sun protection to avoid hyperpigmentation, and do not eat spicy and stimulating food. 2. Local medication: if the patient’s scar is regular scar or hyperplastic scar, topical silicone preparation can be used; if the patient’s scar is atrophic scar, hyaluronic acid can be injected locally or local autologous fat filling treatment; if the patient’s scar is keloid, glucocorticoid drugs or 5-fluorouracil can be injected locally. The above treatments can inhibit the formation of different types of keloid scars. 3. Laser repair: If the patient’s face is old surgical scar, laser treatment can be applied under doctor’s guidance, such as the application of dye laser to solve the problem of redness of keloid scar, the application of fractional laser to solve the problem of scar atrophy or hyperplasia, etc. If the scar is lumpy, it can be treated with local injection of corticosteroid drugs or fluorouracil. In case of keloid scar, we can consider removing the keloid scar and make cosmetic suture, and supplement local radiotherapy at the same time. If the keloid scar is large or affects the aesthetics of the patient, it is recommended that the patient be diagnosed and treated in a regular hospital as soon as possible and under the guidance of the doctor, to avoid the adverse effects brought about by self-medication.
