The Difference Between Rhinitis and Colds

Colds can cause acute rhinitis, but rhinitis deals with acute rhinitis, as well as chronic rhinitis and allergic rhinitis. Rhinitis and colds, with similar clinical manifestations, differ in their causes, specific symptoms and duration.

1. Causes: Colds are mainly caused by the respiratory tract being infected by rhinoviruses, coxsackieviruses, and EBVs. Rhinitis, on the other hand, includes allergic rhinitis caused by pollen, dust mites, etc., and vasomotor rhinitis caused by hot and cold air stimulation, which is often secondary to pyogenic coccidioidomycete infections, deviated nasal septum, sinusitis and other factors.

2. Clinical symptoms: The clinical symptoms of colds are generalized, such as generalized pain, fever, fatigue, nasal congestion and so on. Rhinitis symptoms mainly gather in the nose, including nasal congestion, itchy nose, sneezing, runny nose and so on.

3. Duration: Colds are self-limiting, usually lasting a week to two weeks, and can be recovered. Rhinitis patients have a longer duration and recurrent episodes. Such as allergic rhinitis can be attacked by contact with allergens. Dry rhinitis and atrophic rhinitis can persist for years.

Nasal discomfort, it is recommended to consult a doctor in time to clarify the diagnosis and standardize the diagnosis and treatment.
