At present, premarital examinations in China are free of charge. Generally speaking, China’s marriage examination mainly includes the basic examination of both spouses, reproductive system examination and related counseling. 1. Basic examination: it generally includes blood routine, urine routine, liver and kidney function, electrocardiogram, etc., and if necessary, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, syphilis, AIDS, etc., so as to clarify whether both parties have any infectious diseases or blood diseases. 2. Reproductive system examination: gynecologists and urologists will check whether there are any abnormalities in the couple’s reproductive system, including the appearance and development of the reproductive organs, so as to avoid affecting their sex life and fertility. 3. Relevant counseling: Counseling is used to find out if there are any genetic diseases in the families of both men and women and whether they are suitable for childbearing, and also to clarify whether there are any hereditary diseases related to genes. It is recommended that couples who are planning to get married go to designated hospitals to apply for free premarital examinations, which are usually conducted three months prior to marriage registration or within one month after marriage registration.
