Angular retrorrhagia, a state of tonic spasm of the muscles of the whole body. Because the muscles of the whole body are contracted, and the muscles of the back are stronger than those of the front, there will be a backward bending of the spine and a tilting back of the neck, and this state is known as corrugated spasm. It is often accompanied by flexion of the arms, straightening of the legs, clenching of the teeth and foaming at the mouth. The more common causes of angular retrusion are generalized epileptic seizures and febrile convulsions in children, which may cause the patient to bite his tongue off, and the violent muscle contractions may even lead to fractures, which should be treated promptly.
