Does nephrotic syndrome come back with rituximab?

Whether nephrotic syndrome will recur with rituximab usually needs to be judged according to the patient’s condition, treatment effect and the patient’s personal constitution and other factors, and cannot be generalized. Rituximab is originally a treatment for non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and chronic lymphocytic leukemia, and in recent years, it has been found to have a better therapeutic effect on membranous nephropathy and microscopic lesions. It has been found that rituximab can reduce the number of B-cells, decrease circulating antibody production, and reduce the damage of glomerular filtration barrier to exert therapeutic effects. If the disease is not particularly serious and the patient’s personal constitution is relatively good, the treatment effect is good and the possibility of relapse is small. If the patient’s condition is more serious or the individual’s physical condition is poor, the treatment effect is not good and the possibility of relapse is higher. Rituximab has certain advantages over other immunosuppressants in reducing the recurrence rate of kidney disease, but the possibility of recurrence cannot be ruled out after any disease is cured. It should be noted that rituximab is contraindicated in people who are allergic to the components of the drug, pregnant and breastfeeding women, in the acute stage of rheumatoid arthritis, in severe heart failure. The drug needs to be used under medical supervision, avoid self-medication. Patients with nephrotic syndrome are advised to go to regular hospitals in time and standardize treatment under the guidance of doctors.
