Relationship between ketone bodies and blood glucose

The relationship between blood glucose and ketone bodies is actually the adverse metabolites produced after blood glucose rises to a certain level. When human blood glucose rises to a certain level and is accompanied by insulin deficiency or insulin resistance, the body cannot make full use of blood glucose for energy metabolism and can only carry out beta-oxidative decomposition of fat, which will produce a large number of ketone bodies, including acetone, acetoacetic acid and beta-hydroxybutyric acid, which are three types. When ketone bodies are significantly elevated beyond the metabolic capacity of the liver, the excess ketone bodies will be excreted from the urine, which will indicate positive urine ketone bodies when urinalysis is performed, and the serum ketone body test is also elevated, which is called diabetic ketosis or diabetic ketoacidosis.
