How to physically cool a 10-year-old child with a fever

When a 10-year-old child has a fever, physical cooling is possible as long as there are no cold hands and feet. If the child’s fever is not too high, you can use a local cold compress by dipping a towel in cool water and applying it to the child’s forehead, usually changing it once after 5-10 minutes. Alternatively, you can fill a water bag with cool water and place it under the child’s head to help reduce the fever. If the child has a high fever, cold compresses are not appropriate and a warm water bath should be used. Use a warm towel to wipe the child’s skin all over the body, especially in the armpits, groin, neck and other places where large blood vessels are abundant, and wipe for a slightly longer period of time. You can also use diluted white wine or alcohol instead of warm water, the effect is also the same.
