What does endocrinology see?

Endocrinology is an important and indispensable department in every general hospital, mainly a place specializing in the treatment of endocrine metabolic diseases, the common ones being diabetes, obesity, osteoporosis, gout, lipid metabolism disorders, in addition to thyroid, pituitary, adrenal and parathyroid diseases. It goes without saying that diabetes is an all-too-familiar disease, but this includes type 1 diabetes, type 2 diabetes, gestational diabetes and other special types of diabetes, of which type 2 diabetes is the most common. There are simple obesity and pathological obesity, such as polycystic ovary syndrome. Osteoporosis is a common disease of the elderly, but some malignant diseases such as multiple myeloma can also lead to pathological osteoporosis. Abnormalities in blood lipids, such as elevated triglycerides and cholesterol, are often detected during physical examinations and are called hyperlipidemia, which also requires a visit to an endocrinologist. Common thyroid disorders include hyperthyroidism, hypothyroidism, thyroid nodules, and subacute thyroiditis. Common pituitary disorders are mainly pituitary tumors and pituitary insufficiency. Common adrenal disorders are primary aldosteronism, Cushing’s syndrome, and pheochromocytoma. The common parathyroid disorders are hyperparathyroidism and hypoparathyroidism. Therefore, there are many diseases that can be seen in the endocrinology department, so if you encounter symptoms such as the above-mentioned diseases, you should seek medical advice promptly.
