Action and efficacy of potassium chloride injection

Potassium Chloride Injection is used for hypokalemia and cardiac arrhythmia caused by various reasons. It is commonly used clinically for potassium supplementation in trauma and postoperative patients. Patients can be corrected by potassium chloride injection for hypokalemia due to traumatic stress, frequent vomiting, severe diarrhea, starvation, and the use of potassium-excreting diuretics. In addition, it can also treat tachyarrhythmia caused by poisoning of cardiac drug digitalis, as well as frequent premature beats and multiple sources of premature beats. This product should not be injected directly intravenously, it will cause severe pain and even cardiac arrest, it needs to be diluted and then injected slowly intravenously, too high a concentration or too fast a drip rate of intravenous drip will lead to phlebitis; overdosage will lead to hyperkalemia and renal injury, which will be manifested as weakness of limbs, numbness of hands and feet, decreased heart rate, conduction block and even cardiac arrest. Note that patients with hyperkalemia and renal insufficiency are prohibited. During the use of the drug, pay attention to the detection of the patient’s blood potassium, blood sodium, blood calcium levels, pay close attention to the changes of electrocardiogram and renal function. Patients should follow the doctor’s instructions under the guidance of a professional physician, do not use without authorization.
