Tendon rupture can be cured with standard surgical treatment. However, the outcome of surgery varies from patient to patient and should be problem specific. The sequelae of surgery are relatively different for tendon ruptures in different zones. For example, tendon rupture in zone 5 can be cured in more than 90% of patients and the functional recovery will be better; tendon rupture in zone 2 is prone to adhesions after surgery even if the surgery is performed because of the tendon sheath. It is recommended that patients with tendon rupture should undergo standardized treatment and rehabilitation.
