Patients with diarrhea and runny nose are generally not new coronavirus infections, as diarrhea and runny nose symptoms are most often seen in gastrointestinal colds when they occur together. Gastrointestinal colds are caused by general viral infections, mainly coxsackievirus infections, and are often accompanied by symptoms of acute upper respiratory tract infections such as fever and sore throat, in addition to runny nose and diarrhea. Novel coronavirus infection can cause neo-coronavirus pneumonia. Typical symptoms are mainly fever, dry cough, malaise, but also chest tightness, shortness of breath and dyspnea. Very few patients can have diarrhea symptoms and runny nose symptoms, but they are not characteristic. Therefore, if a patient has diarrhea and runny nose, but no epidemiological history, novel coronavirus infection is usually not considered.
