What does it mean to have a smooth periosteum?

A smooth peritoneum indicates that the lesion has not invaded the peritoneum and is temporarily inside the organ.
Common organs with peritoneum include thyroid, liver, kidney and uterus. Taking the thyroid gland as an example, when a patient develops nodular lesions within the thyroid gland, especially after thyroid cancer and other lesions, the lesions are limited at the initial stage. As the lesion develops and becomes larger, it may invade the peritoneum, and if it penetrates the peritoneum, invasive metastasis to nearby tissues may occur.
In ultrasound, CT, MRI and other imaging examinations, if you find that the peritoneum of the tissues and organs is smooth, it only suggests that the patient’s lesion has not invaded the peritoneum, and it is temporarily inside the organs.
It is necessary for the patient to further improve, such as: enhanced CT, enhanced MRI, pathology examination, etc., to clarify the nature of the lesion, and then combined with the patient’s clinical symptoms, to take conservative treatment or surgical treatment, to minimize the impact of the lesion on the patient.
