Whether to lie on your back or side after bone cement surgery

Theoretically, lying on the back is more conducive to the patient’s treatment and recovery after the bone cement surgery, but the specific lying position should be given by the doctor according to the patient’s actual situation to give reasonable suggestions. Lying on the back after surgery can help reduce pain, and a small pillow should be placed under the waist when lying on the back to maintain the normal physiological curvature of the arc, which can help the recovery of the body trauma and the stabilization of the implanted bone cement, and is conducive to the healing of the bone. Lying on the side after surgery may cause fracture displacement or aggravate the injury due to gravity, and may even lead to wound dehiscence, therefore, theoretically, the side-lying position is not recommended in the early stage. After the bone cement surgery, the patient should mainly rest and recuperate in supine position, and after the bone cement is solid, the patient can go down to the ground and carry out active rehabilitation exercise. Besides, the patient should pay attention to daily rest to avoid secondary injury of the affected area, and should consult the doctor for review in time if he finds any uncomfortable symptoms.
