Exclusive breastfeeding is recommended for four and a half month old babies, and complementary foods can be added gradually when the baby reaches six months old. If breastmilk is insufficient, breastmilk can be mixed with formula.
When your baby reaches the age of six months, when you first start to add complementary foods, try to choose some liquid or pureed foods, such as fresh fruit juice, formula milk, rice pudding made from iron-containing formula rice powder, pureed vegetables, pureed fruits and so on.
The introduction of complementary foods as much as possible from small to large, from one to many, from fine to coarse, from soft to hard, and gradually increase the intake of food, if the baby appears to have abdominal discomfort, stop complementary foods in a timely manner.
The decision to add complementary foods should also be made with attention to the physical growth and neurodevelopment of the baby. If there are any feeding problems, it is recommended to consult the Child Health Unit.
