If a person’s teeth are misshapen or severely underdeveloped, then orthodontic treatment is required. There are many methods of orthodontics, and different orthodontic treatments are used for different degrees of malocclusion. So, do you know the correct orthodontic process? The first visit to the orthodontic department requires the presence of both parents and patients to initially check whether the patient needs orthodontic treatment, point out the problems, initially estimate the general plan of treatment, and tell the orthodontic patient the approximate treatment method, the time needed for treatment, the cost and precautions. If there is an intention of orthodontic treatment, the doctor will arrange for the patient to take photos, X-rays and dental impressions. The doctor uses these photos, x-rays, and dental models to measure, analyze, and design, and then determines the orthodontic treatment plan based on the results of the analysis of this information. The orthodontic process of orthodontic treatment The first follow-up consultation: parents and patients are required to be present to discuss in detail the problems and treatment options. This includes the need for extractions, which teeth to extract, which braces to use, the course of orthodontic treatment and the cost of orthodontic treatment. Second visit: tooth separation (children who need to be extracted will be extracted and recovered for a period of time prior to tooth separation). Third follow-up: fitting of aligners. The commonly used orthodontic treatment method is fixed orthodontic treatment, i.e., wearing aligners. Orthodontic appliances are commonly used metal drag grooves, that is, full mouth “iron teeth”. For some severe bony deformities, surgical treatment may be required, which must be studied, determined and done in cooperation between the oral and maxillofacial surgeons and the orthodontist. Fixed orthodontic treatment generally takes about one to two years, during which time regular follow-ups are required, once a month in the early stages of orthodontic treatment and once every 2-3 months in the later stages. When the orthodontic process is completed, the doctor will remove the original aligners when the orthodontic treatment has been professionally completed, and then the patient will need to wear retainers to prevent rebound and consolidate the orthodontic results. Retainers generally need to be worn for about a year and a half to two years. Orthodontics is a complex process and takes a long time, and requires the understanding and cooperation of the orthodontist to achieve the desired results, so patience is necessary. Orthodontics must go to a regular dental hospital, see a professional orthodontist, and cooperate strictly with the doctor’s orthodontic plan during the orthodontic process to obtain perfect orthodontic results.
