Can you drink Cold & Flu and Xiao Chai Hu together?

The common dosage form of Cold and Flu Ling is Cold and Flu Ling Granules. Xiao Chai Hu includes the prescription medicine Xiao Chai Hu Tang and the proprietary Chinese medicine Xiao Chai Hu Granules, with Xiao Chai Hu Tang as an example. The efficacy of Cold & Flu Spirit Granules and Xiao Chai Hu Tang are different, and it is recommended to take them together under the guidance of a physician. Cold & Flu Spirit Granules is composed of Trigonella, Calendula Yinpan, Wild Chrysanthemum, etc. It has the efficacy of antipyretic and analgesic, and can be used to treat fever and headache caused by cold and flu. Some patients taking Cold Spirit Granules may have adverse reactions such as rash, urticaria and medicinal fever. It is contraindicated for those with severe liver and kidney insufficiency. Caution should be exercised for those with cold spleen and stomach. During the period of taking the medicine, it is not advisable to take tonic Chinese patent medicines at the same time, not to take other anti-cold medicines similar to the composition of this product at the same time, and avoid smoking, alcohol and spicy, cold and greasy food. Xiao Chaihu Tang is composed of Scutellaria baicalensis and Pinellia ternata, etc. It has the efficacy of conciliating Shaoyang (treating exogenous fever with the evil between half-epidermal and half-lippery), and can be used for treating Shaoyang syndrome of typhoid, malaria, jaundice, etc., when Shaoyang syndrome is seen. Its adverse effects and contraindications are not clear. Because of the ascending and dispersing nature of Chai Hu, and the dry nature of Scutellaria and Xia, it is contraindicated for those with deficiency of yin and blood. The above two drugs have different main treatments and efficacies, so if you need to use them together, it is recommended to consult a traditional Chinese medicine practitioner before use.
