What’s wrong with half your arms and face?

Half arm and face numbness may be caused by cerebrovascular diseases, including cerebral hemorrhage, cerebral infarction and transient ischemic attack, brain tumor and inflammation.
1. Cerebral hemorrhage, cerebral infarction: due to local ischemia and hypoxia of brain tissue, causing necrosis, the symptoms of half arm and face numbness may appear. The patient’s symptoms are persistent, and the brain CT examination is high-density foci in case of cerebral hemorrhage and low-density foci in case of cerebral infarction.
2. Transient ischemic attack: the symptoms are usually episodic, the duration is mostly 10-15 minutes, not more than 24 hours, and the CT examination of the brain is mostly normal.
3. Encephalitis: generally subacute onset, most of them may have fever, headache, nausea, vomiting, common clinical encephalitis include viral encephalitis, bacterial encephalitis and fungal encephalitis. Lumbar puncture to extract cerebrospinal fluid is helpful for diagnosis, and if necessary, cerebral nuclear magnetic examination is also necessary for further clarification.
4. Brain tumors: usually with chronic onset and progressive aggravation, patients may have headache, nausea, vomiting and other symptoms, and magnetic brain examination can make a clear diagnosis.
If the above symptoms occur, patients should consult neurology department as soon as possible, so as to clarify the cause of the disease and then give targeted treatment.
