What does a high platelet ratio and count mean

High platelet specific volume and count indicate that the platelets in the blood are above the normal range. Platelet specific volume refers to the percentage of the volume of platelets in the blood, and platelet count is the number of platelets in the blood. Both are high and can be categorized into two situations: 1. Reactive thrombocytosis, which refers to the increase of platelet count caused by other reasons, the most common reasons are acute infections (e.g. acute tonsillitis, acute appendicitis, acute gastroenteritis, etc.), and others can also be seen in certain major surgeries, traumatic bleeding, hemolysis, etc., all of which may induce high platelet counts and platelet pressure areas. 2. Primary thrombocytosis is an increase in platelet count caused by hematopoietic system related diseases, most commonly seen in myeloproliferative diseases such as essential thrombocythemia and true erythrocytosis, in which the platelet count and platelet pressure product will be significantly increased. If both platelet ratio product and platelet count are high, it is recommended to consult a doctor in time to clarify the cause of the disease and carry out targeted treatment or therapy with the help of a doctor.
