Platelet specific volume refers to the volume of all platelets in the peripheral blood as a percentage of the volume of whole blood. Above the standard may be plasma concentration, primary thrombocythemia and so on.
1. Plasma concentration: A common cause of plasma concentration is dehydration, such as severe diarrhea, vomiting, etc., which leads to plasma concentration, thus causing a high platelet ratio.
2. Primary thrombocythemia: It is a myeloproliferative disease with unknown cause, mainly characterized by megakaryocyte hyperplasia with persistent thrombocytosis. Patients with this disease present with a high platelet count and may have skin petechiae and nosebleeds.
Higher than normal platelet count may be due to other reasons. Patients with high platelet count should consult a doctor to determine the cause of the disease and receive relevant treatment.
