What’s going on with the blurred edges of the lung shadows?

Blurring of the edges of the lung shadow may be caused by pneumonia, lung abscess, tuberculosis and other diseases. 1. Pneumonia: Inflammation of the terminal airways, alveoli and interstitium (i.e., the tissue surrounding the bronchial walls) caused by pathogenic microorganisms, and the blurring of the edges of the lung shadows will appear on imaging. 2. Lung abscess: a pus cavity formed by necrosis of lung tissue due to bacterial infection in the lungs, and the edges of the lung shadow will be blurred on imaging. 3. Tuberculosis: a respiratory infection caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection in the lung tissue, trachea, bronchus, and pleura, and may appear as blurred lung shadows on imaging. Blurring of the edges of the lung shadows may also be seen in diseases such as lung tumors and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. If the symptoms of blurring of the edges of the lung shadows persist without relief, prompt medical attention is needed.
