How to measure blood pressure

Blood pressure measurement needs to pay attention to the following: 1. The person measuring the blood pressure should rest quietly for more than 5 minutes before measuring the blood pressure, this is to reduce the effect of tension or activity on the blood pressure. 2. The arm of the person being measured should be at the same level as the right atrium and abducted at 45°. 3. Choose a suitable cuff according to the fatness of the person being measured, usually the length of the cuff on the sphygmomanometer is mostly 12-14 cm, the middle of the cuff should be aligned with the The middle of the cuff should be aligned with the brachial artery, and the lower edge of the cuff should be 2-3 cm above the elbow fossa. The cuff should not be tied too tightly or too loosely, otherwise the results of blood pressure measurement may be affected. After the cuff is tied, if an electronic sphygmomanometer is used, it is only necessary to turn on the switch and wait for the blood pressure to be measured. If a mercury column sphygmomanometer is used, it is necessary to place the stethoscope on the brachial artery at the elbow, without the stethoscope touching the cuff or placing the stethoscope under the cuff and pumping into the cuff. When the brachial artery pulsation disappears then inflate into the cuff, raise the mercury column by another 20 mmHg or so, slowly deflate, and when the stethoscope hears the first sound, the corresponding value on its mercury column is the systolic pressure. With slow deflation, when the stethoscope hears the sound suddenly disappears, the corresponding value on the mercury column is the diastolic pressure, so that the systolic and diastolic pressures are measured.
