What to Expect Before Myopia Surgery

The main precautions before myopia correction surgery are to stop wearing contact lenses temporarily, strictly maintain eye hygiene, and order antibiotic eye drops early. 1. Discontinue wearing contact lenses: Before the surgery, if the patient has ever worn contact lenses, he/she needs to stop using contact lenses for at least half a month, and if he/she uses keratoplasty, he/she needs to stop wearing keratoplasty for at least 3 months, or else the accuracy of the pre-surgery examination will be affected. 2. Maintain eye hygiene: patients must strictly maintain eye hygiene before the surgical treatment to avoid contaminating the eyes and triggering infections, otherwise the surgery cannot be performed. 3. Early antibiotic eye drops: Patients usually need to order antibiotic eye drops, such as ofloxacin eye drops, tobramycin eye drops, etc., 3 days before the surgical treatment, which is conducive to reducing the occurrence of postoperative infection. Before myopia surgery, follow the doctor’s instructions to do a good preoperative examination, meet the indications for surgery and then do myopia surgery.
