Novel coronavirus infections primarily invade the respiratory tract, including both the upper and lower respiratory tracts, and both may exhibit an inflammatory response. The inflammatory response in the upper respiratory tract may be characterized by coughing, sneezing, and runny nose, similar to the symptoms of a cold. It is difficult to fully differentiate between the mild form of the patient’s presentation and the common cold. The primary means of differentiation is often the epidemiologic history of the new crown, such as a visit to an infected area or contact with a patient, which is the most important prerequisite. In addition to this condition, if there is a high suspicion that the patient is infected with a novel coronavirus, a nucleic acid test for the virus can be performed. If the nucleic acid test is positive, regardless of whether the symptoms are typical or not, and regardless of whether the symptoms are mild or severe, it indicates infection with novel coronavirus.
