How to take Gui Zhi Ginseng Soup

Gui Zhi Ginseng Soup is to be taken by decoction and warmed, its effect is to reconcile the exterior and the interior, the specific method of taking should follow the doctor’s instructions. Gui Zhi Ren Shen Tang is a traditional Chinese medicine formula composed of Gui Zhi, Licorice, Atractylodes Macrocephalae, Ginseng and Ginger. The method of taking Gui Zhi Ren Shen Tang is to take one day’s dosage of the decoction and then divide it into three parts and take it warmly, twice in the daytime and once at night. The herbs in this formula work together to harmonize the surface and the interior of the body. Gui Zhi Ginseng Tang is used in treating sun diseases (wind-cold evil Qi attacking the body’s muscle surface, with manifestations of fear of cold and fever, head and body pains, and floating pulse), in which the external evidence has not yet been removed, and counting down of the symptoms results in the deficiency and hardness of coldness in the middle jiao, which manifests as the lack of resolution of the surface and the inside of the body, including fever and malignant cold (fear of cold), head and body pains, congestion of the stomach and epigastric region, abdominal pains, and so on. The adverse reactions, contraindications and precautions of this formula are not clear. If this formula is needed, it should be applied under the guidance of a TCM practitioner’s diagnosis, and should not be taken on its own to avoid adverse consequences.
