Left breast and underarm pain should be alert to breast hyperplasia, pleurisy, intercostal neuritis, breast cancer and other diseases.
1. Breast hyperplasia: It is mainly caused by the imbalance of endocrine hormone metabolism, resulting in the increase of estrogen level. It can lead to the appearance of breast lumps and periodic pain. The pain in the breast is most intense before the impending menstruation, and in severe cases, it may even involve the armpit, resulting in painful symptoms in the armpit.
2. Pleurisy: Autoimmune diseases or infectious diseases can lead to pleurisy. This leads to symptoms such as chest tightness, shortness of breath and breathlessness. At the same time, it can also involve the breast and underarm tissues, thus producing pain.
3. Intercostal neuritis: It is usually caused by the after-effects of herpes zoster or irritation of the intercostal nerves (e.g. viral/bacterial infection, trauma). When the intercostal nerve on the left side appears to have pulling pain, the pain can pull to the armpit, resulting in pain in the left chest and armpit.
4 Breast Cancer: In the early stages of breast cancer, no pain is experienced. However, when it is in the advanced stage of breast cancer, the tumor has invaded into the lymph nodes in the armpit, which will lead to the symptoms of shoulder swelling and armpit pain in addition to the symptoms of chest pain.
When there are pain symptoms in the left chest and armpit, it is recommended to go to the hospital as soon as possible in order to exclude malignant conditions and carry out targeted treatment.
