A mass on the back of the neck felt to the touch requires general surgery. There are two diseases to consider when a lump appears on the back of the neck, namely sebaceous cysts and lipomas. Sebaceous cysts are superficial swellings that occur on the head, face, neck, back, etc. They are caused by blockage of sebaceous glands and protrude from the surface skin, often with a black spot in the center. Lipoma is also a body surface swelling, located under the skin, with soft texture, no pressure pain, good mobility of the swelling, smooth surface and clear border. It is suggested that the patient should visit the general surgery department, and relevant examinations, mainly ultrasound, combined with physical examination can clarify the diagnosis. If it is a sebaceous cyst, it can be removed surgically under local anesthesia, and if it is a lipoma, it can be removed, and it can also be reviewed regularly.
