What’s wrong with black, misshapen stools?

Black and irregular stools may be related to diet, medication, indigestion, gastrointestinal bleeding and other factors.
1. Dietary factors: Consumption of blood products, such as chicken blood, pig blood, duck blood, etc., or consumption of animal offal pig liver, chicken liver and other foods containing more iron elements, so that the stool may be black and unshaped.
2. Drug factors: after taking bismuth potassium citrate, bismuth pectin and other bismuth or iron containing drugs, black unshaped stools will be produced due to digestion and metabolism.
3. Gastrointestinal bleeding: Common diseases that cause gastrointestinal bleeding include ruptured varices at the base of the stomach, gastric ulcer, duodenal ulcer, etc. When the gastrointestinal bleeding occurs, especially in the upper gastrointestinal tract, it may cause black stools. When gastrointestinal bleeding, especially upper gastrointestinal bleeding, due to oxidation through the intestinal tract will become black, so it can be manifested as black unshaped stools.
There may be other reasons for black and unshaped stools, so it is recommended to go to the hospital in time, complete the examination to clarify the cause of the disease, and then give targeted treatment or therapy under the guidance of the doctor.
