Teeth grinding in children is not necessarily caused by a deficiency of a nutritional element. However, vitamin D deficiency may cause teeth grinding. Other major causes of teeth grinding include: physiologic teeth grinding, oral diseases, and parasitic infections.
1. Vitamin D deficiency: when a child lacks vitamin D, the nerve excitability increases, and symptoms such as teeth grinding may occur.
2. Physiological teeth grinding: children’s teeth discomfort during teething, itching, will be relieved by grinding teeth; daytime over-excitement, mental tension, etc., will lead to children grinding teeth, bedtime should be appropriate relaxation, to reduce the brain’s state of excitement.
3. Oral diseases: caries, gingivitis, periodontitis and other oral diseases can easily lead to tooth pain, sensitivity, which triggers children to grind their teeth.
