What are the effects of Chuanxiong and Angelica dahurica?

Rhizoma Ligustici Chuanxiong and Angelica Dahurica are both Chinese medicines, in which Rhizoma Ligustici Chuanxiong has the effects of dispelling wind and relieving pain (dispelling wind evils and relieving pain in the tendons and bones), activating blood circulation and promoting the flow of qi, while Angelica Dahurica has the effects of clearing and opening up the nasal orifices, drying dampness and stopping leucorrhoea (stopping leucorrhoea by drying out dampness), dispelling the epidermis and dispersing cold (removing the cold evils from the surface of the muscle), dispelling wind and relieving pain and eliminating swellings and draining pus (eliminating swelling of the abscess and expelling pus). Rhizoma Ligustici Chuanxiong may be used to improve chest pain, amenorrhea and dysmenorrhea, rheumatism and paralysis, obstruction in the abdomen and abdominal pain. Angelica dahurica can improve colds and headaches, congested nose, nasal congestion, nasal abyss (mainly manifested as foul nasal discharge, the amount of which cannot be wiped away), sores and swelling and pain. Chuanxiong should not be used in large quantities to avoid poisoning and should be used with caution in those with hyperactivity of liver yang (liver yang is excessive, causing dizziness, dizziness, headache and other symptoms), avoided in pregnant women, and should not be used in those with heavy menstruation and bleeding without bruising. Angelica dahurica is contraindicated in those with yin deficiency and blood heat. Both Rhizoma Ligustici Chuanxiong and Angelica dahurica should be used under medical supervision.
