What is the neck pain?

Neck pain is usually caused by high muscle tone due to fatigue of the muscles and soft tissues in the neck and shoulder area, which can cause pathological changes in the bone joints of the neck and its surrounding linked ligaments over time and induce other symptoms. The most common causes of neck and shoulder pain are neck sprains and cervical spondylosis. Cervical sprain mostly occurs when the cervical spine suddenly overactivates under the action of external force. The neck sprain is caused by sudden muscle contraction or excessive stretching, resulting in lacerations of the muscle starting and ending points or muscle abdominal subfibers in the neck and shoulder. The disease has a clear history of trauma, and the pain is usually aggravated 24-48 hours after the injury, which may radiate to the back of the shoulder and increase when the neck is active, often accompanied by soreness and swelling. Cervical spondylosis is generally a disease caused by aseptic inflammation of the muscles and soft tissues of the cervical spine or degeneration of the bones and joints, with neck pain and discomfort as the main symptoms. Due to the high tension of the muscles and soft tissues of the cervical spine, cervical spondylosis often has neck pain and affects the performance of activities. In short, there are many causes of neck pain, and proper diagnosis and treatment are required according to the specific condition.
