How to treat asthma in children?

Having asthma: What is the scientific treatment? What does standard treatment mean? Once a child is diagnosed with asthma, parents should not panic. With scientific and standardized treatment, most children with asthma will find satisfactory relief from their symptoms. There is an international “Global Asthma Initiative” that has been endorsed by most doctors around the world. The Pediatric Branch of the Chinese Medical Association in China also developed a guideline for the prevention and treatment of asthma in children in 2008. Most of the doctors in regular hospitals in China follow this guideline and take into account the specific conditions of the patients for asthma prevention and treatment, and the results are very good, which is the standardized treatment. There are still many parents who have misconceptions about the treatment of asthma in children. Myth 1: See a doctor after an attack, but not go to the hospital without an attack. Asthma is a chronic disease that requires medical attention during attacks and preventive treatment when it does not occur, otherwise it will not be effective at all. Myth 2: See a doctor when it is serious, and ignore it for mild asthma. From the point of view of the degree of attack, there are indeed mild and severe asthma in children. However, it is important to note that if left untreated, mild asthma can lead to serious consequences such as sudden death. Therefore, regardless of the severity, as long as the asthma is found, it is necessary to seek medical attention immediately. Myth 3: Too afraid of hormones and refuse inhaled hormone treatment. Hormone inhalation is a treatment method introduced from the West, which has been proven to be very effective for children’s asthma, but many parents are worried about the adverse side effects of hormones on their children and refuse to use inhaled hormones. In fact, parents should have a rational understanding of hormone therapy for asthma. If the systemic hormone therapy is mainly oral and intravenous, the hormone dosage is large, and long-term use will indeed produce serious side effects, and it can only be used for short-term treatment in severe attacks; while the amount of hormone used in inhaled hormone therapy is very small, only 200-400 micrograms are ingested daily (systemic hormone therapy requires tens of thousands of micrograms per day), and The chemical structure and metabolism of inhaled hormones and systemic hormones are completely different, therefore, as long as the correct dosage and appropriate course of treatment are used under the guidance of a doctor, the human body will generally not have adverse reactions. Myth 4: You don’t need to see a doctor, you will get better naturally after development. It is true that many children with asthma will gradually ease their symptoms as they grow older, but we cannot wait passively because without active treatment, a child’s asthma will have recurrent attacks for a long time, which will, firstly, be painful for the child, secondly, make it less likely that the child’s symptoms will be relieved after development, and thirdly, will eventually cause lifelong damage to lung function, and, once a serious attack occurs, it can even be life-threatening! Combination of prevention and treatment: what do I need to pay attention to in general? What should parents do in ordinary times? 1, and doctors often contact. It is best to find a regular public or private hospital with a fixed responsible doctor with good medical ethics, with whom to establish a long-term “partnership”, at least once a month to follow up. 2. Identify and avoid allergens. Dust mites, pollen, mold, smoke, cockroaches, etc. are all allergens that can easily trigger asthma. The home should be ventilated more often, bed sheets and covers should be washed and dried frequently, and cleaning should be done frequently to keep the living room clean. When you take your child out, prevent him from coming into close contact with flowers and avoid taking him to places where there are many people and the air is poor, especially where he can inhale second-hand smoke. 3. Insist on lung function monitoring. Once a year, you should go to a large hospital for a comprehensive lung function test. Normally, you can use an instrument called peak flow rate meter to monitor your child’s condition at home every day by yourself. This method is very simple, the instrument is also very cheap, about 100 yuan a. 4.Conduct inhalation therapy for a long time as prescribed by the doctor. 5.When an attack occurs (irritability, shortness of breath, blue lips, and a significant decrease in peak flow rate), you should seek medical attention immediately. 6.On this basis, Chinese medicine practitioners can be contacted to cooperate with the treatment.
