When a baby accidentally eats tissue paper, there is usually no problem if it is in small quantities, but if it is in larger quantities, appropriate treatment is needed, such as inducing vomiting, gastric lavage and other treatments.
Tissue paper is usually made of wood or wood pulp and usually does not cause any reaction in babies, it will be digested inside the stomach and excreted with the baby’s stool. If your baby has eaten a small amount of tissue paper, it is recommended to give your child more water for observation, keep the bowel movement smooth, and eat more fresh vegetables and fruits, especially green leafy vegetables rich in dietary fiber, which can promote bowel movement.
If the child accidentally ate a large amount of tissue paper and it is accompanied by vomiting, diarrhea, bloating and other discomforts, emetic, gastric lavage and supportive therapy may be needed.
If your baby has eaten tissue paper, you should go to the hospital as soon as possible, and the doctor will formulate a treatment plan to avoid delay.
