Red ginseng can be added to Four Substance Tang, but please follow your doctor’s instructions for specific dosage.
Four Substances Tang consists of Angelica sinensis, Rhizoma Ligustici Chuanxiong, Radix Paeoniae Alba and Radix Rehmanniae Praeparata, and there is no contraindication to the addition of red ginseng to these four medicines, so it can usually be used in combination. Four Substances Tang has the function of tonifying and activating blood, and is used for treating palpitations and insomnia caused by deficiency and stagnation of blood in the body (deficiency and obstruction of blood in the body), lack of bluish color (no gloriously moist and glossy complexion), and pale color of the lips and nails; or women with scanty menstrual periods or menstrual closure.
Red ginseng has the effects of tonifying the vital energy (replenishing the root energy of the body), restoring the pulse (restoring the normal pulse to prevent and control deficiency), benefiting the qi to take in blood (preventing bleeding by tonifying the qi) and is used in treating deficiency of the body and desire to take off, cold limbs with a weak pulse, lack of qi to take in blood, and discharging of blood in the form of metrorrhagia (menstrual bleeding that is excessive in volume or more than a few drops). It should not be used in conjunction with Veratrum and Wu Ling Ling Zhi.
The adverse effects of the above drugs are not clear. Patients who feel unwell should go to the hospital in time for consultation and treatment, and use the medicines under the guidance of professional physicians, do not take the medicines blindly.
