What to eat after an enema for intestinal obstruction

After the enema of intestinal obstruction, patients in the acute stage should be fasting and water fasting, so as not to lead to the worsening of the symptoms of obstruction; in the recovery period, it is recommended to eat fluid or semi-liquid, rich in dietary fiber and other foods.
1. Acute stage: In the acute stage of intestinal obstruction, fasting and water fasting should be strictly prohibited, and parenteral nutrition should be given as the mainstay, supplementing essential water and electrolytes, actively searching for the cause of the disease and giving appropriate treatment.
2. Recovery period:
(1) Fluid or semi-fluid food: generally, after the end of enema and the recovery of gastrointestinal function, that is, when the anus begins to defecate and exhaust, you can start to eat fluids, such as millet porridge, pasta sheets and so on. When the gastrointestinal tract further recovers and the digestive function gradually improves, you can start eating semi-liquid food, such as noodles, fish soup and so on.
(2) Foods rich in dietary fiber:such as spinach, apples and other fresh fruits, vegetables and sweet potatoes and other coarse grains, rich in dietary fiber, is conducive to promoting intestinal peristalsis and preventing recurrence of intestinal obstruction.
After the enema for intestinal obstruction, it is recommended to have a light diet, avoiding the intake of spicy stimulation, cold, greasy and hard-to-digest food, such as fried chicken, hot and spicy, coffee and so on, so as not to aggravate the condition.
