There are several options for submandibular inflammation, such as conservative treatment, stone removal or surgical treatment, and it is recommended to go to the hospital for specific examination and treatment. Mandibular inflammation is usually caused by stones, the disease is mild, small stones can choose conservative treatment. Commonly used to promote salivary secretion to stimulate the discharge of stones, in favor of the gland ducts open, often recommended to eat acidic food. For larger stones in the submandibular gland without a history of recurrent infections, incision and lithotripsy can be performed to preserve the submandibular gland. In patients with recurrent infections and atrophy of the gland, surgical removal of the submandibular gland is recommended. Since saliva is secreted by the parotid and sublingual glands, removal of the gland does not usually affect the secretion of saliva in the mouth.
