Does emphysema cause a fever?

Patients with emphysema may experience fever if they have a combination of infectious diseases. Patients with emphysema are in poorer health than normal people and are more likely to have a combination of respiratory infections. When emphysema is combined with an infectious disease, symptoms of fever may occur. However, the fever is not due to emphysema, and emphysema alone usually only manifests itself in symptoms such as chest tightness and coughing. The cause of emphysema may be related to smoking and hereditary factors. It mainly manifests as shortness of breath after activity, and is often accompanied by coughing, sputum, and loss of appetite, etc. Fever does not occur if there is no co-infection. When emphysema patients have a fever, they should go to the hospital for blood tests to determine whether it is due to an infection and treat it accordingly.
