After the rib fracture is repaired and immobilized, patients with mild conditions can walk around, while patients with severe conditions need to rest in bed. If the condition of the rib fracture is mild, such as simple rib fracture without important blood vessel and nerve damage, the patient can go down to the ground moderately after the rib is repositioned and immobilized. This is to prevent the formation of lower extremity venous thrombosis, decubitus ulcer, pneumonia and other complications after prolonged bed rest. Bed rest is required for patients with severe conditions, such as rib fractures combined with hemopneumothorax, damage to vital blood vessels and nerves, and inability to breathe normally. For patients with phlegm, patients should be encouraged to cough up phlegm by holding the wound. Rib fracture patients need to be under the guidance of the doctor to carry out reasonable recuperation.
