Can hydronephrosis cause an increase in blood creatinine?

In case of severe hydronephrosis, patients with impaired renal function may have elevated blood creatinine.
Dilatation of the renal pelvis and calyces due to obstruction of the urinary system and retention of urine are collectively known as hydronephrosis. Patients with mild hydronephrosis or severe hydronephrosis who receive timely treatment usually do not have elevated blood creatinine; patients with severe hydronephrosis, untimely treatment, and impaired renal function may have elevated blood creatinine.
Patients with hydronephrosis should improve the urological ultrasound, CT and other examinations, according to the cause of targeted treatment, such as lithotripsy treatment for patients with urinary tract stones, surgical resection of patients with obstruction due to tumors or placement of drainage tubes, so as to avoid the accumulation of water for too long, resulting in irreversible damage.
Patients with hydronephrosis should go to the hospital in time for timely treatment under the guidance of professional physicians.
