Conservative treatment of tibial plateau fractures routinely involves immobilization in a long-legged cast in an extended position, and wheelchair use is generally not recommended. Conservative treatment of tibial plateau fracture is usually applied to patients with less severe injury and more intact joint surface. Conservative treatment usually adopts external cast immobilization, choosing the leg extension position for long leg cast immobilization, the affected limb should be elevated above the heart level, which helps to reduce the swelling of the affected limb. Generally, after about 4~6 weeks of plaster fixation, if the fracture line is blurred and the fracture break reaches the standard of preliminary clinical healing, the plaster can be removed and the knee joint flexion and extension function exercise can be carried out. 10~12 weeks later, the fracture is basically healed, and the patient can go down to the ground and do weight-bearing activities. After the conservative treatment of tibial plateau fracture, wheelchair can not ensure the extension and elevation of the affected limb, which will easily cause the movement and displacement of the joints, and the fracture end will be easily dislocated, which will affect the healing of the fracture, therefore, it is not recommended to take a wheelchair, and you can choose other means of transportation that can flatten the affected limb. Patients with tibial plateau fracture treated conservatively should go to the hospital for follow-up in time, and carry out standardized treatment and rehabilitation exercises under the guidance of doctors.
