Urogen, usually referred to as urotensin, is a sex hormone extracted from the urine of menopausal women that has follicle-promoting properties. Urotropin promotes follicular development and maturation, which in turn promotes estrogen secretion and thickening of the uterine lining. Clinically, urotensin is often used in combination with chorionic gonadotrophin to promote ovulation, and is also commonly used in amenorrhea due to various reasons. In men, it is used to promote spermatogenesis. Contraindications to the drug are abnormal vaginal bleeding, renal insufficiency, intracranial lesions, polycystic ovaries, pregnancy. Common adverse reactions are ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome, miscarriage, enlarged ovaries. The use of this drug needs to be applied under the guidance of a clinician, and if adverse reactions occur, the doctor should be contacted to adjust the medication.
