What causes borderline mental retardation?

Borderline mental retardation is medically known as pediatric mental retardation, which is mainly caused by prenatal factors, natal factors and postnatal factors.
1. Pre-natal factors: including hereditary diseases, intrauterine growth retardation, multiple malformations, intrauterine asphyxia, various kinds of poisoning, intrauterine infections and so on. Among them, hereditary diseases account for a large part, and the main hereditary diseases include chromosomal aberrations, congenital metabolic diseases, genetic syndromes and so on.
2. Natal factors: if the patient is in labor, resulting in asphyxia and intracranial hemorrhage, thus causing intracranial hypoxia or injury, there may be pediatric mental retardation.
3. Postnatal factors: mainly related to infections, endocrine diseases and brain tumors, such as those caused by meningitis, malnutrition or special sensory defects.
When patients are diagnosed with pediatric mental retardation, it is recommended that they go to regular hospitals in time and receive standardized treatment according to their condition.
