Can you swim if you are nearsighted?

People with myopia can swim, and swimming does not aggravate myopia. Myopia is one of the most common refractive disorders and usually develops in childhood or adolescence. The onset of myopia is associated with genetic predisposition and poor eye habits.
There is no obvious causal relationship between the onset of myopia and physical exercise such as swimming, and appropriate physical exercise is effective in delaying and controlling the growth of myopia. Therefore, myopic patients can swim normally, and it will not aggravate the condition of myopia.
However, myopic patients are advised not to engage in too intense sports, such as boxing, diving, bungee jumping, etc., because it may increase the risk of myopic complications such as retinal detachment.
Myopia patients are advised to have regular hospital check-ups to assess their condition and follow the doctor’s advice to choose the appropriate treatment.
