The main pharmacologic treatments for cataracts are adjuvant nutritional drugs, antioxidant damage drugs, enzyme-type theory-related drugs, aldose reductase inhibitors, and traditional Chinese medicine. Generally speaking, the effect of drugs is still limited, and surgery is needed in the end.
1. Auxiliary nutrients: mostly amino acids, vitamin C, vitamin E and inorganic salts.
2. Antioxidant damage drugs: mainly glutathione eye drops, which can effectively relieve further damage to the lens and alleviate the symptoms of cataract.
3. Drugs related to enzyme type theory: for cataract patients with abnormal metabolism of tryptophan, tyrosine and other metabolism in the lens, pinoxin eye drops can be used for treatment.
4. Aldose reductase inhibitors: common drugs are Bendazac Lysine eye drops, which are suitable for early age-related cataracts.
5. Chinese medicinal preparations: some Chinese medicinal preparations have certain efficacy on cataract, such as Musk Pearl Eye Drops.
At present, cataract medication is not effective in preventing or reversing lens clouding, so cataract patients are still recommended to undergo surgical treatment. Cataract patients need to use drugs under the guidance of a physician.
