Acne is generally referred to as acne vulgaris, and factors such as genetics, androgen-induced sebum production in large quantities, keratinization of follicular sebaceous gland ducts, propagation of Propionibacterium acnes, and immune-inflammatory response may be associated with it. The redness and itchiness of acne is usually referred to as an inflammatory manifestation due to localized Propionibacterium acnes colonization.
The overpopulation of Propionibacterium acnes causes a cascading reaction in a downstream series. The inflammatory response causes damage to the follicular wall to rupture, and spillage of various follicular contents into the dermis causes inflammation around the follicular sebaceous gland unit, resulting in a series of clinical manifestations ranging from inflammatory papules to cystic damage. Acne can appear red, swollen and itchy.
Patients with acne symptoms of redness, swelling and itching should go to the local dermatology department in a timely manner, under the guidance of the doctor standardized treatment.
