Sediment-like stones are small in size, usually below 3mm, most of them have no obvious clinical symptoms, have little effect on kidney function, and can usually be discharged by themselves. Therefore, most of them are treated with medication for stone removal and lithotripsy, drinking more water and appropriate activities. Different drugs are applied for stones of different nature, for example, oral potassium citrate and sodium bicarbonate are used to alkalize the urine for uric acid stones. For infected stones, anti-infection, oral ammonium chloride to acidify the urine. If renal colic occurs during stone removal, diclofenac sodium and indomethacin can be used to relieve pain and mebendazole to relieve spasm, while regular review of renal ultrasound and renal function is required.
