Management and education of bronchial asthma in children

Asthma is a common chronic allergic disease in children, in recent years, its prevalence has been reported to have a significant upward trend in the world, the prevalence of asthma in children in China is about 3%, that is to say, there are millions of children suffering from asthma, can not be normal learning, exercise and life, if not timely and effective treatment, will be delayed to adulthood and even cause death; timely and effective prevention and treatment of childhood asthma is the common desire of parents and the community. It is the common wish of the parents of the affected children and the society. To effectively prevent and treat asthma, in addition to the doctor’s correct diagnosis and treatment, but also must have parents and children’s close cooperation, because asthma treatment is a long process, only the close cooperation of parents, children can have good compliance, so as to achieve the desired therapeutic effect. Therefore, we believe that the education and management of asthmatic children and their parents are as important as the diagnosis and treatment by doctors. First of all, every new child and his/her parents should be informed about asthma, that asthma is a chronic non-specific inflammatory disease of the airways, which can cause recurrent attacks when exposed to various risk factors. Based on these initial conversations, parents will be able to relate to their child’s condition, recognize the doctor’s diagnosis, and build long-term trust. Trust in the doctor is the foundation for successful treatment of patients with chronic diseases that require long-term treatment and multiple follow-up visits. After the establishment of trust between doctors and patients, parents, especially parents with higher levels of knowledge should also be allowed to understand the current domestic and foreign children’s asthma commonly used treatment programs, asthma treatment of the core drug is adrenocorticotropic hormone, asthma hormone is mainly inhaled, as long as the doctor’s proper guidance, long-term inhalation proved to be safe, long-term large-scale application of glucocorticosteroids proved that long-term inhalation of glucocorticosteroids on the height of the effect is The effect of long-term glucocorticoid inhalation on height has been proven to be minimal. To dispel the parents’ concerns about the use of hormones, and build confidence in long-term treatment. Next, the doctor can formulate an appropriate treatment plan according to the child’s condition, age, and the patient’s family’s financial situation, and have specially trained professional nurses train the method of medication, explain the precautions, set up a patient file, and teach parents to keep a diary of the peak flow rate of the older patients in order to better observe their condition, and then finally make an appointment for a follow-up visit. In addition to the above individual patient education and follow-up visits, group education can also be carried out by establishing a children’s asthma home, carrying out regular asthma lectures, demonstrating the correct use of medication, and inviting patients with better control to give examples to enhance the confidence of other patients in overcoming the disease, and at the same time saving the time of the individual visits so that more patients can be benefited. Viral infections are common triggers for children with asthma, improving children’s immune function to reduce viral infections can effectively reduce asthma attacks; long-term adherence to exercise is an effective means of improving children’s immune function to reduce recurrent upper respiratory tract infections, but unsuitable exercise methods can often trigger asthma. Therefore, for each asthmatic child, we will recommend suitable exercise programs to parents based on their age, physical condition and severity of the disease, so that children can improve their physical quality and enhance their immune function through effective exercise. In addition to hospital management, home management of asthmatic patients is also very important. Home care for asthmatic children is a learning process, and with proper care, the disease will recover quickly and even be cured. Improper care can lead to relapse or exacerbation of the disease. Therefore, through regular health lectures and the distribution of educational materials, we instruct the parents of children to strengthen home care in three aspects: room management, dietary management and psychological care. At present, in addition to inhalation therapy, asthma patients at home and abroad widely carried out specific immunotherapy (desensitization therapy) and specific IgE therapy has achieved good results, so that we see the dawn of the eradication of asthma, we believe that with the development of medical science, as long as adherence to the treatment, scientific management, every asthmatic child can breathe freely!
