The treatment of decompensated cirrhosis mainly includes improving liver function, symptomatic treatment and treatment for complications. Liver function decreases significantly in decompensated stage of liver cirrhosis, liver protection treatment can be given to improve liver function. Patients with decompensated cirrhosis may have anemia, dyspepsia, endocrine disorders and other manifestations, and symptomatic treatment can be given accordingly. For patients with ascites, water and sodium intake restriction, diuresis, ascites release and jugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt can be adopted according to the severity of ascites. Portal hypertension can be treated by shunting, interruption of flow or splenectomy. Complications such as upper gastrointestinal bleeding, spontaneous peritonitis, hepatic encephalopathy, hepatorenal syndrome and so on may occur in patients with decompensated cirrhosis, and treatment should be given accordingly.
