The difference between pregnancy and delayed menstruation is mainly manifested in different physiological reactions, HCG (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin) tests, ultrasound examination and other aspects.
1. Physiological reaction: When a woman is pregnant, under the influence of the hormone level in her body, she may have early pregnancy reactions such as sleepiness, fatigue, drowsiness, acidic food, nausea, vomiting, etc. While a woman with delayed menstruation may also have early pregnancy reactions. While a woman may also experience drowsiness when her period is delayed, she usually regains the status quo in 1~2 days and does not experience any other symptoms.
2. HCG test: HCG test after pregnancy can detect the increase of HCG content in urine and blood, and HCG is positive. When menstruation is delayed and there is no pregnancy, the blood HCG will not rise, and the HCG in urine will be negative after the test.
3. Ultrasound: Pregnant women can see the pregnancy sac and fetal heart in the uterine cavity during ultrasound examination, while women with delayed menstruation can’t see these during ultrasound examination.
If you have delayed menstruation, it is recommended that you go to the hospital for an early pregnancy test to rule out the possibility of early pregnancy causing delayed menstruation. If pregnancy is ruled out, delayed menstruation within seven days is normal, and delayed menstruation for more than seven days is considered irregular menstruation, and it is recommended to consult a doctor in time to find out the cause of the delayed menstruation and treat it as soon as possible.
